The come back of the stars
Hello,
once again, we’re James and Felix, and once again, we are the stars
from the prickles. This time we helped change the PowerPoint,
although the only changes we made were to make it more “friendly”
for children, which is something we didn’t take into account
enough the first time. Our efforts went into the presentation itself
rather than the PowerPoint this time, to try and make it more dynamic
and interesting.
We
still have the same opinion on being the star, but we would like to
emphasize what we said last time about being responsible for the
groups’ work being worth the effort, as we feel we let the group
down last time with our simple and monotonous presentation.
James:
Now, when it comes to talking about the day of the presentation, I
felt a bit more comfortable this week, because I’d already done it
once, and the class had half as many people in it. I think that
listening to our teachers’ advice from the week before made us take
it more seriously and improve the general level of the works.
I
think we prepared ourselves better and changed the way we presented
our topic, vertebrate animals. Using toys to represent the animals
and asking questions to the audience made it seem more professional
and it showed that more work had gone into it. I made an effort to
move around a bit more, get closer to the people and try and get
their attention instead of just saying what had to be said about our
topic.
I
learnt that the more presentations I do the more comfortable I feel,
and that making presentations more dynamic and interactive makes them
more interesting and easier to follow.
Félix: Me as star
of this week I have felt better than the other one, we have prepared
it better and we knew some tips that Linda told us in wednesday class
last week, we tried to improve a lot our way of explain things and we
changed the information to adapt it for a younger audience. We
changed all the presentation and we included toys to represent each
type of vertebrate. Again I was nervous at the moment of the
presentation but this is a thing that all star have to improve doing
and doing exposition.
I think that we
improve a lot the way of explain the topic and we thought in the
audience to, we were more interactive and dynamic. Regarding to the
last week, that all exposition were awful, I think that not only us,
all star improved a lot and learnt how to do an exposition in the
correct way.
On wednesday Linda
divided us in expert groups and we had to do a tutorial of 30 seconds
of how to be the best star, that video is in the following link:

Finally I have to
say to the next stars that it has been difficult to explain in
another language and in an specific way the topics but always the
start of something is difficult and you have to look for the better
way in you will be comfortable. Pay attention on your body expression
and please to the day of the presentation, wear aproppiate clothes.
